Antibiotic Research UK
Antibiotics have been an essential part of modern medicine helping us fight infections and allowing us to perform surgeries and treatments for serious
disease safe in the knowledge that we have a line of defence against bacterial infections.
However, antibiotics no longer work as well as they did because bacteria are developing a resistance against them. Annually, antibiotic resistant infections cause 93,000 hospitalisations in the UK alone, and 700,000 deaths globally.
“It took me 8 weeks to improve, I could barely walk at first. I didn’t know that one in three people carry MRSA in their body; nor that very few antibiotics are effective against it.” Tony
Antibiotic Research UK is the world’s first charity dedicated to research and supporting patients affected by antibiotic resistance. We fund research to keep existing antibiotics working, and support patients with reliable information about antibiotic resistance and a friendly ear if they need to chat.
The funds raised at the Dragon Boat Challenge will help us to achieve our vision of a world free from deaths caused by drug-resistant infections.

Accessible Arts & Media
Accessible Arts & Media is a small charity based in Acomb, York. We’ve been running inclusive arts and creative media learning projects in and around York since 1982.
We support disabled adults and young people, older people living with dementia and memory loss and people with mental ill-health.
Our projects include singing and signing choirs, creative digital media programmes, specialist creative and therapeutic sensory activities, and training programmes where learning-disabled adults and young people train as workshop leaders.
Our programme of activities supports their wellbeing by helping them feel happy, connected and valued. We help them develop the skills and confidence to connect with their local community and have more of a say in the things that matter to them.
Funds raised at the Dragon Boat Challenge will support our iMUSE for Wellbeing programme. It offers 1:1 therapeutic sensory sessions for people with mental ill-health.
Your support will help us meet growing demand for this unique and personalised service.
