The barbeque is back!! 

 

This year's BBQ (dedicated to the memory of Peter Fox) is being held at Sutton-Upon-Derwent Village Hall

BOWLS EVENING Aug 24th 

                                                                                                    x

We are restoring (after a year's gap) the outdoor bowls evening, and this is booked for Tuesday 24 August, at the Railway Institute Bowling Club, in Acomb. It will begin at 5.00pm for 5.15pm briefing, and consist of about one and a half hours of gentle bowls, followed by a pie & pea supper at around 7.15. Cash bar available. The cost is £10.50 for Bowls plus the Supper; or £7.00 for just the supper. It has proved an enjoyable evening in the past.

YORK ROTARY'S CENTENARY

2021 marks the centenary of the founding of the Rotary Club of York (Inaugural meeting February 1921).

Celebrations and events are being planned throughout the year from February 2021 through to February 2022

CENTENARY CELEBRATION WITH ABBA REVIVAL SHOW      NOVEMBER 19TH

Our "big bash" celebration event is going to be on November 19th at the Racecourse

with a 3-course dinner then the award-winning "ABBA REVIVAL" show / dance

Members have been hugely supportive and have purchased 220 tickets so far.

Tickets are now on sale to, the general public and other Rotary Clubs and of course still available to members:  £60 pp

KEEPING IN TOUCH

 Our Friday meetings are currently held as "Hybrid Zoom meetings where Zoom participants can watch the day's speaker and share and participate in York Rotary business that follows the lunch at the Novotel

          (The Treasurer will allocate accordingly)

- Setting up a Standing Order for regular payments to Rotary Foundation UK (sustaining membership)

YORK ROTARY DIGITAL ARCHIVE

We now have a DIGITAL ARCHIVE recording much of the history of the Club's last 100 years.  The archive resides securely in "the cloud", accessed via  "Google Drive". 

 

It contains, amongst many other things...

   - The complete set (almost) of monthly Rotagraphs from Edition 1 (1951) to date

   - Club Accounts from 1981 onwards

   - Our Website archives with news items from 2009 onwards

   - Cy Read's "Golden Wheel" History (part 2) from 1981-92

   - All Dragon Boat Challenge programmes and memorabilia from its 2003 inception onwards 

   - and lots of photographs 

Access is for York Rotary members only.   Further items are being added to the archive
