York College Awards, December 25

On Wednesday December 17th, three members from the Rotary Youth Team met at York College to present the first Construction Awards of this academic year. We were warmly welcomed by Course leaders Ashley Stokes and Mike Burdett who expressed how well these awards were working and meant so much to the students.

Six awards were presented to the winning students in the different construction areas as shown in the photographs.

Vic Brookes was chief photographer with Paul Hattee and Jane Albon presenting the awards. All 6 students were really surprised and happy with their awards and as usual, were quite shy at this first term stage. The team visited all 6 departments to do the presentations.

York College really do an amazing job with these young adults helping so many into apprenticeships and the Rotary Awards really appear to boost confidence in the young students. Both York College and the Rotary youth team are looking forward to the next set of awards which will be presented at Easter.
