The future of AI in Healthcare
We were very lucky to have Lesley Lock, Hospital Director Clifton Park Hospital, Ramsay Healthcare talking to us about the future of AI in healthcare.
Lesley started by talking about Clifton Park Hospital and then went on to talk about the future of AI in healthcare. Lesley said that AI is not used in directly in operations, but Robotics are used to assist with those.
AI is used to assist with Imaging, Operations, Documentation, Monitoring and Research. An example of the use of AI is in aiding the diagnosis of strokes thereby enabling faster stroke decisions. AI is also used in consultations as a notetaker, preparing a set of notes of the consultation for review by the person carrying out the consultation, thereby saving a lot of time and enabling the person carrying out the consultation to spend more time on either additional consultations or other activities.
AI is also used as a planning tool to predict pressure points in the delivery of services before they arrive. Lesley reassured us in talking about how the human element was always required to review the outcomes of AI, ensuring it is never used in isolation.
