Discover:Dine:Dance – 3 Degrees of FUN

As a Fundraising Social event the fundraising team organised our branded Discover:Dine:Dance event held at the Novotel on the 26^th November.

Discover: Quiz Master John Lacy organised a fun quiz covering a wide variety of topics and the individual tables competed with one another.  John lead the quiz with great humour.  In giving the answers the answer for one question related to the Three Wise Men and John told us with a straight face that they came from the “East Riding”, of course we all thought about Yorkshire.  John then said “the bible tells us that” and he went to quote “Three Wise Men came from the east riding on a camel”.  Well done John.

The winning Team, which won narrowly, were presented with 2 bottles of fine champagne to celebrate their win to the envy of the rest of us!

Dine: We were treated to an excellent buffet which we all greatly enjoyed. With many thanks to the Novotel for providing such a sumptuous feast.

Dance: After the buffet we enjoyed dancing to DJ Barry with his disco music.  Barry played music that we all knew; it was played at an appropriate volume so that we could also talk with ease and just about everyone was on the dance floor at some time in the evening.   It was amazing to see the whole floor filled to capacity to dance to the Proclaimers singing I would walk 500 miles and dancing and singing along – we all knew the words…..it was also great fun seeing the Twist danced with great energy by some of our slightly younger guests!!!!

There was also a colourful pop up Christmas stall at the event to raise further funds.  Overall, the event raised £990.70 for the York Rotary Charity Fund, an excellent outcome for an event that we were all able to enjoy, well done and thank you to Sheila and the fundraising team for organising such a successful event.
