SANTA PAWS 2021
Sunday 5th December – registration from 10.30 with start time at 11.00 a.m…..…it’s not a race but a gentle stroll around the course. This is a Joint venture with RSPCA and Wilberforce Trust – funds raised will be split equally between the 3 charities.

MORE INFORMATION...
A family fun event on the Knavesmire running track where dogs and their owners walk a circuit of the track (3.3kms) in Christmassy dress.
There will be prizes for the best dressed dog and best dressed owner in their Christmassy outfits and prizes will be awarded by a great x 4 grandson of William Wilberforce.
It costs £5pp to enter and children of all ages are welcome with under 5’s and dogs free.
Registration is via Racebest at https://racebest.com/races/yefhc
A publicity and marketing campaign has been set up already via Community Facebook pages/Twitter/Instagram etc and entries are starting to come in. A Press Release has been in The Press recently and York Mix are promoting it as is Yorkshire TV, with a live interview of Jane Carter from The Wilberforce Trust and Lizzie Parry of the RSPCA respectively having taken place recently.
Hopefully Rotarians and their dogs and families will register and join in too, but if you don’t have a dog come along on the day to cheer the walkers on and have some Christmas refreshment.
There will be seasonal refreshments available at the end of the course with mulled wine/hot chocolate/mince pies being sold.
Walkers can also do their own sponsorship if wished and Wilberforce Trust has set up a Just Giving SantaPaws campaign page on their website.
YorkMix will provide music and commentary on the day and there will be branded gazebos from each charity with the Rotary Gazebo being used as the Registration and then Refreshment tent.
We have booked the Santa Float from Ainsty Rotary which will hopefully attract other Knavesmire users to make donations into our collection boxes.
The cost of this event is relatively low and the hiring of the Knavesmire has already been covered by a very generous donation from the Shepherd Group which will also cover the cost of other expenses and the necessary licenses. The other 2 charities are also actively seeking sponsorship donations of mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies
