We're back!!

(subject to government regulations at the time...)

On September 12th 2021,  36 teams will be battling it

out on the River Ouse 
(between Scarborough Bridge and Lendal Bridge) 
for the Challenge Trophy and other prestigious awards,  

including awards for the fastest Charity Team,  fastest

Armed Services Team, and of course the  "Best Dressed Team" trophy.


The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge has been held annually since 2003.
 
  Over the past 18 years the cumulative amount raised, 
for a whole host of worthwhile local charities, is over

 


...and we are now heading towards our second £million!!

 2021 York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge

Following the 2020 "hiatus",  we are delighted to announce we are now planning the 2021 Challenge which - subject to confirmation and government regulations at that time - will take place  on

 

September 12th 2021

Application forms will be sent by email in late Spring 2021 to interested parties who are on our mailing list.    Please refer to the entry details opposite...

Entrants will then be required to complete their online Application Form and send it to us with the Registration Fee of £400, before the closing date (to be announced)

 

FUNDRAISING


Each team is required to raise not less than £1,500 as sponsorship as a condition of taking part. In fact on average, teams raise in excess of £1,500.

 

One third of the total sponsorship raised by each team will be shared between York Rotary's nominated charities for 2021 which are SASH and The Hut.

 

The remaining two thirds will go to a registered charity or Community Sports Club of the team’s own choice.

Entering the 2021 York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge

If you were entered for the 2020 event, you do not need to contact us at this stage, as you will automatically receive (in late spring) information about the 2021 event. However, if any of your contact details have changed (email etc) then please complete this form to let us know..

If you are interested in taking part, but are not on our mailing list, please complete this form and we will contact you in late spring 2021 with more details about how to enter.

RESULTS  -  2019

  1.  The Challenge Trophy - Presented to the winner of the Grand Final -  along with a cheque for £100 for their chosen charity
                                                   
Awarded to "Swift"  (72 Sqn RAF Linton-on-Ouse) 
                                        
                            
  2.  
The Fastest Times - these are awards for the fastest time in any of the races in which they participate, and are made to the teams NOT

                                          winning the Challenge Trophy: 

               * The Charity Cup for the fastest "Charity" Team  along with a cheque for £50 for their chosen charity

                                         Awarded to "Swift Taylors" (Merchant Taylors)

The Merlin Cup for the fastest "Armed Services" Team along with a cheque for £50 for their chosen charity    

                                         Awarded to "Swift" (RAF Linton-on-Ouse)
                                                          
               *  
The Ouse Cup for the fastest "Civilian" Team and a cheque for £50  for their chosen charity  

                                         Awarded to  "Electric Growlers" (H Todd / Ged Bell Butchers)  
                                                                 
                *  and the
Tailenders Trophy for the slowest time  

                                         Awarded to "York in Rowcovery"  (Changing Lives/York in Recovery) 


                             

  2.  Best Dressed team  -  the Ged Bell Trophy

                                                Awarded to "Average Boating Gang" (A B Graphic International)
 

In addition....   An Award for the most Sponsorship money raised by one team 
was presented to
Aviva Legal - they raised a fantastic £6364.00 !
