22nd RIBI Rotary Club Championships

The club enter two teams annually in the Rotary Club Golf Championships. The format is a knockout competition at District with the District winners going forward to the National Final held at The Notts Golf Club, Hollinwell.

BILL MANN TROPHY

Last years event was held at Forest Park on 9th August 2009 on a glorious summers day. The golf was of a variable standard followed by an excellent meal at the golf club when Sheila Royce (Bill Mann's daughter) joined us to present the prizes. There was a record attendance of over 50 at the dinner with all three Presidents of the Rotary Clubs in York present, an occasion entirely in accord with Bill's wishes in presenting the trophy - to foster fellowship between the Rotary Clubs in York.

CHESTER-LE-STREET MATCH

This was last held at Fulford, York on Friday 3rd August 2007. An inspired performance by the York Rotary club resulted in a win 3:1 over the Chester-Le-Street Rotary club, a reversal of the score the previous year and the McLeish Shield is now held by York. Perhaps the real winner of this annual match is the fellowship generated by this event over the last 22 years. The overall score is York 9, Chester-Le-Street 9, and 4 matches halved. Sadly Chester-Le-Street could not raise a team in 2008 and the trophy remains with York waiting for the challenge.

SHOUKSMITH TROPHY 2010

Presented by Tom Shouksmith in 1933 during his Presidential year and played for annually at selected golf clubs in the area. The format was changed to a singles knock-out competition in 1981.
