The club sponsors candidates for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and a candidate for the Ocean Youth Trust. . It has been decided to support three students in 2011.
Blood Pressure Day was held on 9th April 2011, in co-operation with the two other Rotary Clubs in York, when the public in three centres around York are invited to have a free blood pressure check. Once again our centre experienced keen interest, and was kept busy throughout the day taking over 430 blood pressures.
The old folks outing to Sinnington took place on Tuesday 21st June 2011.
Recent donations have been made to Off The Hook/York Boxing Club, Snappy, York Assertive Outreach Team, Survive, Foundation, Minds in Motion, York Young Carers, York CVS and Citizens Advice Bureau.

Dragon Boat Committee - Chairman 2012 - Mike Fieldsend
The date for the 2012 Dragon Boat Challenge is 8th July 2012. Preparations are well under way. 36 competing teams have been signed up. The north bank of the river will again be full of interesting stalls to give the day a gala atmosphere

The matching project with the Knysna club is progressing well with funds committed from the host club Knysma, their District 9350, the sponsor club, York, our District 1040, and the Rotary Foundation. The project in South Africa will provide equipment for Early Development Centres, Literacy Centres, and training for carers and mothers.
Funds continue to be donated for Shelterboxes and Lifeboxes to provide emergency help to disaster areas abroad.
A Big Band Concert was held in July 2010 at the Manor School which raised over £750 for Harare Cancer Care. This sum was topped up to £1000 from club charitable funds and sent to Harare.
Funds have been raised for ‘Calls for Heroes’, an initiative of the Rotary Club of Carluke to meet the cost of our service personnel in Afganistan having additional calltime, when telephoning their families at home.
The reunion visit from Erlangen and Aubusson Rotary Clubs took place 2-5th June 2011. A full report can be found here

The 100 Club is now the 100 Plus Club! New entrants always welcome - see Ian Denoon. The regular bric-a-bac sales at St Crux continue to be a great success.
The Internet Fundraiser /prize draw ("York 90") closed on 30th April 2011 and the winner has been announced. The event raised over £6000 for Rotary Foundation Polio Plus and Yorkshire Cancer Research. See York90 page
The committee also arranges the stalls and support on the North Bank for the Dragon Boat Challenge. All 30 stalls have been taken up promising a wide range of activities.

The Committee is very active and is always on the look-out for people interested in supporting the ideals of Rotary by joining the Club.
Rotaract Subcommittee - Chairman - Brian Joscelyne
A very active York Rotaract Club has been formed for those interested in pursuing the ideals of Rotary and who are in the age range 18 to 30– details can be found on www.yorkrotaract.org.uk
Vocational Service - Chairman - Frank Paterson
Mock interviews have again been arranged in July at the Joseph Rowntree School to be carried out by a team of Rotarians. These have been held at the end of the summer term for a number of years. Feed back from the School is that the experience has been most useful to the pupil, when it comes to the "real thing", be it an interview for University or a job.
A Seventh Joint York Rotary Clubs Technology Competition for local schools was held on 15th March 2011 at the National Railway Museum and thirty eight teams of four students entered. In addition to the continuing support of Shepherd Building Group and NYBEP, we were delighted to welcome this year, for the first time, three departments from the University of York as sponsors. They are the departments of Electronics, Computer Science and the Admissions and Student Recruitment Office.
Vocational visits are planned quarterly, venues being decided and entered on the diary page as arranged.
